A protagonist of LA’s historical performance scene, Tesserae brings Renaissance and Baroque music to life! The group is joined on January 16 by critically acclaimed soprano Rebecca Myers and Lutenist John Lenti.

The Doheny Mansion’s Pompeian room—featuring an iridescent Tiffany glass dome, elegant art glass panels, Tuscan marble Corinthian columns and geometrically patterned floor—preserves a grandeur unparalleled in Los Angeles.

The program
Tesserae’s January 16 program features arias, madrigals, and motets likely written and played by female musicians in Renaissance Venice, including settings of verses by Veronica Franco, the subject of the 1998 film Dangerous Beauty.
Ensemble and repertoire will vary depending on COVID restrictions.
THE MASTERCLASS
Following Tesserae’s performance, three talented music students will perform Renaissance and Baroque works for members of the ensemble, who will inspire them with verbal feedback and musical demonstrations. Join us for this remarkable music lesson!
